AI will strengthen teaching of the Swedish language

In Vinnova's call for proposals "Test beds to address society's challenges”, 20 new test bed projects in different phases are now being funded to stimulate the capacity to test the development projects cost-effectively, quickly and on a small scale in the public sector. One of the projects starting up is the "Test bed for AI-driven language learning”, which will be run by the City of Helsingborg's labour market administration in collaboration with AI Innovation of Sweden, Get AI, Lund Faculty of Engineering, Lund University and Lingio.

AI Innovation of Sweden to assist in initiative helping public organisations to use AI solutions

The Swedish Innovation Agency, Vinnova, will give public sector the possibility to quickly get expert opinions on potential AI projects. The initiative aims to offload public organisations in the strained situation that has occurred as a result of the Corona crisis. AI Innovation of Sweden and the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions are assisting Vinnova in implementing the initiative.
Hack the Crisis will help the world fight Corona

The Corona pandemic that has hit us has created the biggest crisis in modern times. Most of the world has been affected and we must act now and use every conceivable force to help solve the crisis. To meet this huge challenge, Hack the Crisis Sweden, a digital hackathon, will be organized on April 3-6, 2020, with the aim of bringing all good forces together to contribute to beating this pandamic.

Petra wants to ignite the AI community in Stockholm

The day after the inauguration of AI Innovation of Sweden’s new Stockholm node, Petra Dalunde started her new position as Node Manager for the Greater Stockholm area. During the first month Petra has met with over 40 different organizations including current partners. The reflection so far is that the interest in AI and what it can do for society and business is immense.
The first results of the Baltic seabird hackathon are in!

In November, AI Innovation of Sweden together with WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) and SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) organized a hackathon aimed at studying the behavior of guillemots, and was designed to gather information on the nutritional status of the Baltic Sea. This was documented on video over a long period of time and the preliminary results are now in: “We understand that the behavior of the birds is a lot more complex than we previously thought,” says Jonas, scientist from SLU.

Data from space teach us more about the state of nature

Climate change is becoming ever more apparent, with clear visible changes to our woodland and grassland. Our two Space Data Lab pilot projects are now testing how satellite data can be used to improve how we monitor and prepare for these changes. The first of these projects assesses ground humidity in relation to the risk of forest fires. The second project monitors increased vegetation and overgrowth at Lake Vänern.
Unique media initiative within AI innovation

AI Innovation of Sweden in collaboration with the Innovation program Media & Democracy at Lindholmen Science Park are starting a national pilot initiative with a focus on media-specific AI innovation. Three media companies are on board from day one: Hall Media, Stampen Media and Sveriges Television. - We're very happy about the initiative, says Martin Holmberg, Programme Manager at Medier & Demokrati.

Tests with medical data at the Data Factory accelerate research within Scapis

A unique research study within medical image analysis of coronary/cardiac computed tomography angiography images from the Scapis study has been tested this autumn at AI Innovation of Sweden's Data Factory. By using the infrastructure that the Data Factory offers, it has been possible to dramatically increase efficiency in the research work.

Pre-planning of new AI node in the Northern Sweden Region

Educating more than 100,000 Swedes on AI

Sweden has come a long way in terms of digital competence, but still has a lot to learn when it comes to AI. In order to create applications and solutions from research and innovation, a basic understanding of opportunities and possible dangers are needed. AI Innovation, Vinnova and Linköping University now provides Sweden with opportunities for such understanding. Elements of AI is free, open for all and comes in both English, Finnish and, as of May 15, Swedish.

In her graduation thesis "AI –The Lawyer's Tool or Replacement?" she analysed and attempted to predict how AI will affect the legal field.

Sweden challenged by Finland on AI

So far over 1% of Finland’s population and a total of 140,000 students have started the free on-line training course "Elements of AI", and now it is time for the Swedish population to learn the basics about AI. The release of the course was announced during the opening ceremony of AI Innovation of Sweden, and comes with a challenge from the Finnish government.

AI Innovation of Sweden was opened today at Lindholmen Science Park, together with more than 40 partners that have been confirmed to date. The Minister for Energy and Digitalisation, Anders Ygeman, was there to open the national centre, which will use cooperation and co-location to accelerate innovation and research in practical applied Artificial Intelligence - AI.
