Let AI Sweden’s Young Talents accelerate your AI journey

Monday, September 25, 2023

In August, AI Sweden's Young Talent program 2023/2024 hit the ground running. The 14 participants are now a month into their training at AI Sweden. In January, they are ready to take on project work at AI Sweden's partners. If your organization is in need of their competence, get in touch with us!

To attract top talent to Sweden and develop our potential, diversity and a dynamic work environment will be a top priority. AI Sweden wants to provide opportunities for talented individuals based on potential, not only experience, contrary to traditional structures.

The participants will be offered courses at AI Sweden during the fall, as well as take part in our different projects and get additional training from the team at AI Sweden. The studies will include deep learning, natural language processing, distributed machine learning, and autonomous systems.

During spring 2023, the participants are available to work 50-100% with one of AI Sweden’s partners.

So, what can host organizations that offer the Young Talents an internship expect? During the first half of 2023, the Young Talents Elis Grahn, Herman Hallonqvist and Markus Kamsties worked at Räddningstjänsten Storgöteborg, Statistiska centralbyrån (SCB), and Epiroc while two other participants, Hlib Turuta and Pavlo Ovchynnykov, did their internships at Combitech and National Forensic Center (NFC).

The talents we had at the Fire Rescue Service helped us understand what AI is and what it's not, what we need to develop before we can use the technology, and how important it is to think through what you want to use it for. This was a quick way for us to learn," says Tove Nyth, Räddningstjänsten Storgöteborg.

In May 2022, Stefan Wranne, Software Developer at Zenseact, summarized five months with participants for the first Young Talents cohort in a very positive fashion:

"They have performed well above expectations and have shown a high level of interest in understanding the challenge at hand. The work they have performed has been of high value for Zenseact, as it helps us streamline our evaluation and feature improvement process," he said at the time.

“I've witnessed firsthand the incredible value that AI Sweden's Young Talents bring to our partner organizations. These young graduates, armed with AI expertise and fresh perspectives, have exceeded expectations over and over again. Embracing diversity and potential over experience is proving to be a game-changer in the world of AI, and we're excited to continue expanding this program nationally to tap into the talent pool of technical high school graduates across Sweden, says Sofia Hedén, Head of Talent Programs.
