AI for Impact: Call for non-profits

AI Sweden, with funding from Google.org, is running the AI for Impact project, which aims to strengthen Swedish social entrepreneurs from underserved communities and non-profit organizations working for social good. During the project, several initiatives will be carried out to raise awareness of how AI can be used for social good and to develop examples of use cases. One of these initiatives is a summer talent program where organizations receive help to implement AI from students in the field.

About the talent program

The talent program AI for Impact will take place from June to August 2024. It aims to support non-profits and social entrepreneurs in their AI ambitions. The program will include collaborative case ideation, project management, development, and implementation — all guided by a responsible approach. AI Sweden will extend assistance through a talent pool. Five organizations will be chosen to participate in the program. The selection is based on the organization's potential positive impact, feasibility, and its readiness for AI. We match each organization with a team of three handpicked AI talents.

Applications will be processed continuously during the spring of 2024

Expected outcome of the program

Real-world experience and comprehensive understanding

Providing practical experience in implementing AI solutions and understanding the challenges and potential of AI.

Impactful collaboration

We will choose five non-profits and support each one with a team of three talents, totaling fifteen contributors to the program.

Use case implementation

The overall goal is to implement concrete use cases for each organization.

Who should apply?

  • You should apply if you are a Swedish non-profit organization working for an important cause
  • The projects can focus on different kinds of AI technology, such as generative or predictive AI. Applicants can suggest several projects
  • This program is an ideal choice if your organization aims to enhance its skills and capabilities in utilizing artificial intelligence for a positive cause
  • Having an established IT department and access to available data is viewed as an advantage but not a requirement

Expectations and how to apply

While the program is free of charge thanks to Google.org, we expect applying organizations to submit achievable project suggestions and provide some internal stakeholder support.

  • Please apply by filling in this form
  • The application must pass Google's AI Principles review, conducted by Google AI ethicists and experts, which is part of our selection process
  • Clearly articulate the business problem or opportunity for which you wish to apply AI
  • Ensure that the project is somewhat achievable within the 10-12 week timeframe

We are open to discussing and ideating around AI use cases together, refining the project scope for optimal results. Identify internal stakeholder(s) who will provide essential information, and internal guidance, and potentially engage in project management.

Applications will be processed continuously during the spring of 2024
