After three intensive months of planning, workshops and discussions with more than 90 people from organizations based in south Sweden, the south node of AI Innovation of Sweden is now taking its next step towards full establishment.

Climate change is becoming ever more apparent, with clear visible changes to our woodland and grassland. Our two Space Data Lab pilot projects are now testing how satellite data can be used to improve how we monitor and prepare for these changes. The first of these projects assesses ground humidity in relation to the risk of forest fires. The second project monitors increased vegetation and overgrowth at Lake Vänern.

Is Sweden a location or a subject? This is rarely something that gets thought about in human dialogues, but in terms of the development of language models, this question is one of the major challenges. This subject was the area of focus when the Swedish Language Data Lab presented the first models developed within the context of this project.

Vinnova has approved funding to eight new data labs to increase the use of data in different areas. AI Innovation of Sweden is a partner in three of these; Swedish Medical Language Lab, AI Platform for Medical Data Sets and Road Data Lab.

Last week's hackathon has the potential to impact science and research about the Baltic Sea. During the prize ceremony, marine expert Metta Wiese, WWF, asked all participants and bystanders to take two deep breaths.
