AI Sweden's mission is to accelerate AI adoption across Sweden to benefit society. The civil society sector holds significant potential for leveraging AI to address crucial challenges.

The purpose of this hackathon is to bring together non-profit organizations and AI experts to work together to develop innovative AI solutions that address current societal challenges.

Through Impact Hack, AI Sweden wants to inspire innovation and collaboration, identify concrete use cases for how AI can make a difference, and contribute to the work of creating positive change.

Who can participate?

Idea Creators: Non-profit organizations aiming to address societal challenges through AI.

The hackathon is divided into two phases

PHASE ONE | IDEA COLLECTION AND WORKSHOPS

In this phase, you’ll have the opportunity to join our inspiration and ideation workshops, where you'll gain the tools to refine your concept. Whether your idea is brand new or already in development, everyone is welcome to submit their proposals.

During our open sessions, you’ll also have the chance to receive feedback and brainstorm ideas with us.

PHASE TWO | FROM FINALIST TO WINNER

After the application period, an expert jury will select the 10 most promising ideas.

The finalists will then participate in an intensive hackathon, collaborating with AI experts to elevate their concepts to the next level.

Finally, the solutions will be presented to the jury, and the winning idea will be awarded 100,000 SEK.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?

We are seeking ideas of all sizes that have the potential to create real societal value. This could range from using large language models to tackle specific tasks to leveraging other AI capabilities, such as transcribing audio files, analyzing image data, or optimizing workflows.

Addresses key societal challenges

The idea should aim to make a meaningful impact on important societal issues.

Utilizes AI innovatively and purposefully

The solution should creatively apply AI to solve problems effectively.

Is feasible, scalable, and impactful

The idea should be implementable and have the potential to make a difference on a local, national, or global scale.

Criteria for finalists and winning ideas

An expert jury will evaluate all entries based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation potential: How novel is the idea? Does it offer a new solution to an existing societal problem?
  • Societal impact: How significant is the idea’s potential positive impact on society? How specifically does it address targeted societal challenges?
  • Feasibility: Is the idea realistically achievable with available resources?
  • AI relevance: To what extent does the idea utilize AI technology?
  • Scalability: Does the solution have the potential to expand, reach a broader audience, and/or benefit other organizations?
  • Ethical considerations: Has the team addressed ethical factors such as bias and discrimination in their solution?

Why participate?

This is a chance to work side-by-side with experts in AI and innovation, while having the opportunity to develop a solution that can create long-term societal benefits.
