Small and medium-sized businesses & the innovation ecosystem

Staff discussing

AI is reshaping the playing field for Swedish companies

Small and medium-sized enterprises are the backbone of Sweden’s economy. At AI Sweden, we support them both directly and through key players in the innovation ecosystem – including science parks, incubators, and business coaches – to help them seize the opportunities of artificial intelligence, build critical skills, and generate real value for both business and society.

The innovation ecosystem

We collaborate with innovation actors and business support organizations to deepen AI knowledge in the Swedish innovation ecosystem. By strengthening business developers, for example at incubators and science parks around Sweden, we contribute to companies receiving better support and conditions to succeed with We also run a special AI network for the innovation ecosystem.

Small and medium-sized enterprises

AI Sweden strengthens companies' competitiveness by accelerating their ability to create value with AI in their operations and offerings. Through focused projects and broad collaborations, we contribute to raising AI maturity in new and established companies across all industries.

Startups & scaleups

Startups and scaleups are a vital part of our mission to accelerate the adoption of AI in Sweden. Through our Startup Program, we support AI startups on their growth journey by providing access to networks, test environments, and opportunities to collaborate with organizations across our partner ecosystem.

The goal is to strengthen innovation capacity, increase competitiveness, and prepare for the challenges of the future.

AI Sweden works to strengthen and deepen the AI capabilities of actors within Sweden’s innovation ecosystem. By raising AI competence among business coaches, advisors, and business developers, we equip individuals and organisations with the tools to understand AI technology, its possibilities, and the new conditions under which companies and startups operate.

With the right support, these actors can help businesses adopt AI faster and turn it into tangible business value. Our goal is to provide innovation environments – and ultimately the companies – with the skills, infrastructure, and collaborative spaces needed to use AI as a driver of innovation, growth, and long-term competitiveness.

AI is not just a technology – it is a catalyst for business development, scalability, and profitability. Successful service companies see AI as an investment and a competitive advantage, not merely a tool for efficiency. Leadership, collaborative arenas, and experimentation are key to success.

Related projects

In our projects, we see that companies successfully integrating AI free up capacity, create new revenue streams, and strengthen their competitiveness. The technology often improves efficiency, but it also opens the door to entirely new business models, services, and markets. At the same time, the challenges are significant – not least in terms of skills shortages and complex regulations that slow down progress. This is where AI Sweden, together with the business support ecosystem, can play a decisive role.
