The automotive industry is undergoing massive, core-level changes and facing significant challenges. What role will artificial intelligence play in its future competitiveness? This transformation requires bold leadership and a new way of working. The AI Sweden Automotive Cluster is formed to support a collaborative environment where organizations are coming together to differentiate research, increase competence, and break new ground. This collaborative effort is essential to finding the true value proposition of AI in one of the largest industries and securing Sweden’s competitiveness.

Mauricio Munoz

The automotive industry must take a more active role in shaping its future with artificial intelligence. The playing field has never been so ripe for pre-competitive collaboration. The Automotive Cluster is extremely well positioned to lead in applied and differentiating AI research to take on this challenge.

Safer self-driving vehicles, cost reduction in manufacturing, data privacy, optimizing vehicle functionality for a new generation of users - these are all examples of AI-driven automation that the automotive industry can no longer do without. Navigating the landscape between the extremely agile science of AI, and the by comparison lethargic pace of the automotive industry, is becoming increasingly complex.

Joint efforts across players in the industry to address some of this complexity in a pre-competitive environment is a crucial part of the way forward. The challenge is clear: thinking ahead and finding direction in spite of uncertainty of outcomes. The Automotive Cluster is extremely well positioned to lead in applied AI, differentiating research to take on this challenge.
