Northern Europe AI Upskilling Initiative
Empowering 13,000 workers across Northern Europe with essential AI skills through tailored training, ensuring no one is left behind in the AI transition.
About the project
Artificial intelligence has the capacity to rapidly change the labor market and is already in wide use by professionals across different sectors. To ensure regional competitiveness, we need to equip the workforce with the right tools.
This project, supported by Google.org, and led by AI Sweden, aims to train approximately 13,000 workers across Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The core online training will be supported by custom wrap-around content designed to ensure accessibility and high completion rates.

Challenges
The rapid advancement of AI is creating an enormous demand for upskilling from both employees and employers. The challenge lies in quickly providing accessible and relevant knowledge across the broader labor market.
Project purpose
Our purpose is to democratize AI knowledge and give everyday workers the power to use AI tools in their daily routines. By providing access to the most in-demand AI skills, we boost employability across various sectors and ensure a fair digital transition. Additionally, this initiative builds a robust international network to share insights and learn from each other across borders.
Expected outcomes
The primary objective is to equip 13,000 individuals across Northern Europe with essential AI skills through our training program.
On a larger scale, the initiative aims to increase the adoption of AI tools in the workplace, strengthen workforce resilience in an AI-enabled economy, and explore effective methods for large-scale upskilling.
