Generation Toolkit
Digital scenario tool for future electricity production
The Västra Götaland region currently imports 70% of the electricity that is used in the region. The project will develop a digital scenario tool to explore possibilities for more local power production and create future visions for the region’s energy system.

The green transition presents significant opportunities, but also challenges, with electricity access being a major concern for the Västra Götaland region’s industry. This project addresses the need for a modern understanding of the energy system’s potential by creating a digital scenario tool (Generation Toolkit) that empowers various stakeholders.
Challenges
To maintain the competitiveness of the region Västra Götaland, the green transition of both society and industry present different challenges, particularly concerning availability of electricity for the region. Current discussions among decisionmakers often rely on outdated knowledge, risking delayed action.
Project purpose
This project will develop a digital scenario tool to analyze possibilities for more local power production in Västra Götaland’s municipalities. The tool will integrate energy models and data to provide user friendly insights for decisionmakers.
Expected outcomes
The project will deliver a user-friendly digital scenario tool (Generation Toolkit) for energy system analysis, along with communication activities to inform decisionmakers. This will lead to improved understanding and dialogue around energy transition possibilities and local power production.
