AI for Impact

Call for social entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations supporting social entrepreneurship

AI Sweden, with funding from Google.org, is running the AI for Impact project, which aims to strengthen Swedish social entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations working towards social sustainability. During the project, several initiatives will be carried out to raise awareness of how AI can be used for social good and to develop examples of use cases.

Included in AI for Impact are

A hackathon, where social entrepreneurs and nonprofits are invited to develop new use cases for AI within social good. Learn more about Impact Hack 2025.
Networking events and the course AI for social entrepreneurs aimed at increasing collaboration and knowledge within the sector.
A summer talent program in 2024, where students in AI and Machine Learning will carry out projects with social entrepreneurs and nonprofits. Participating organizations can apply with a project proposal to participate.

About the course AI for social entrepreneurs

We are now launching a free training initiative for social entrepreneurs aimed at increasing understanding of AI's possibilities and challenges through a combination of self-study and interactive workshops. It targets social entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations, with no prior AI experience required.

About the talent program

The talent program within 'AI for Impact' will take place from June to August 2024. It aims to support social entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations in their work using AI. Five organizations have been selected to participate in the program, and each will be assigned a team of three talents.

The organizations participating in the program are:

UNICEF Sweden
Swedish Red Cross (Umeå Branch)
Mind
Reach for Change
Swedish Sea Rescue Society

Applications closed on April 17:th, 2024.

Who is in scope for the project?

The project targets two types of organizations:

Social impact companies and social entrepreneurs, i.e. companies whose core business revolves around creating social benefits. These companies may be for-profit, but this should not be their primary driver
Non-profit organizations working for social benefit
