AI as a catalyst for Ukrainian women entrepreneurs
AI Sweden has successfully concluded a project preparation aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s economic resilience and facilitating future EU integration through AI literacy. As part of the WIRNU project, a comprehensive AI training program was developed to empower the country’s women entrepreneurs.
“Through this collaboration, we have created a curriculum tailored to the realities of Ukraine,” says Nina Levchuk, co-founder of the Ukrainian organization Impact Force.
AI Sweden has supported Ukrainian students and entrepreneurs with AI and ML education since 2022. This latest effort, the WIRNU (Women's Innovation & Resilience Network Ukraine) program, was led by AI Sweden and funded by the Swedish Institute (SI). The preparatory project focused on establishing the foundation for an AI-enhanced entrepreneurship incubator designed to support war-affected and internally displaced women in Ukraine, while aligning with core values of gender equality and democratic resilience.
Through this project and the bespoke ‘train-the-trainer’ approach, we are helping to strengthen inclusive economic development and entrepreneurship in Ukraine. At the same time, we are bolstering the country’s long-term resilience and its ability to create value using AI.

To ensure the initiative addressed real-world needs, Impact Force conducted a needs assessment based on responses from 239 Ukrainian female entrepreneurs. The insights gained served as the foundation for a specialized ten-module curriculum, designed to take participants from understanding the general AI landscape to implement AI in their businesses.
Additionally, AI Sweden conducted 12 training sessions with the Ukrainian partner organization Impact Force. Utilizing a train-the-trainer model, the initiative ensures Impact Force can now run and scale the program independently. To support the project's long-term sustainability, AI Sweden also helped establish a strategic framework for an advisory network, based on feedback from over 50 respondents from Swedish AI experts and Ukrainian entrepreneurs .
The project builds on a shared commitment to embedding technological literacy into the bedrock of Ukraine's economic recovery.
Through this collaboration, we have created a curriculum tailored to the realities of Ukraine, while embedding AI and innovation literacy into entrepreneurship pathways for women. By working with AI Sweden, we gained access to world-class knowledge and tools that can be integrated into our national programs. We look forward to continuing this work, building on the strong foundations we have established during this project preparation to support Ukraine’s recovery and digital transformation.
