Hundreds of interested participants had gathered at Lindholmen Sience Park as the well-known speakers entered the stage. 

The topic was ”AI & Automation” - What does it really mean?, and various aspects on future mobility, such as self-driving technology, motor vehicle safety, highway systems and product development was discussed.

Chris Urmson, CEO Aurora

Chris Urmson is the co-founder and CEO of Aurora, where he leads a company dedicated to realizing the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly. Chris, has helped advance the state of the art of self-driving vehicles over the last 15 years. As the former leader, and CTO, of Google’s self-driving car program (now Waymo), Chris helped to build the team and technology that is generally credited as instigating the self-driving industry.

Prior, Chris was a faculty member of the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. During his time as faculty member at Carnegie Mellon, he worked with house size trucks, drove robots around in deserts, and was the technical director of the DARPA Urban and Grand Challenge teams.

Chris's vision is to design hardware and software that will power the next revolution of transportation. He earned his PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University and his BSc in computer engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1998.
 

Adrian Lund, Former President IIHS

Adrian Lund is currently a consultant and managing member at HITCH42, LLC. The mission of HITCH42 is to provide individuals and society with empirical knowledge to make better and safer decisions.

Dr. Lund recently retired from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and its affiliate, the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI), where he had served for 36 years, most recently as President from 2006 through 2017.  His research there spanned the range of driver, vehicle and roadway factors involved in motor vehicle safety.

Currently, he serves as a Trustee for the Global New Car Assessment Programme; as a member of the University of Michigan’s International Center for Automotive Medicine (ICAM) advisory board; as a member of the National Safety Council’s Road to Zero Coalition; as a member of Autoliv’s Research Advisory Board; and as a member of the National Academy of Sciences Committee on the Future of the Interstate Highway System. 
 

Dennis Nobelius, CEO Zenuity

Dennis Nobelius has extensive experience within product development. 

Complemented with leading positions in manufacturing, and now via marketing/sales/service domain moved into a Managing Director position of a new Joint Venture between Volvo Cars & Veoneer - Zenuity.

Major recent achievements are to have led the development of the All-New Volvo XC90 (including the new SPA platform), and also simultaneously led the development of the Volvo 90 model range (S90, V90 and V90 Cross Country). His background also covers running an entrepreneurial IT business. Educational Ph.D. degree in Technology Management.
