The second intensive sprint of the GSAI (Growth and Scaling Through AI) program is bringing fifteen startups from the Central Baltic region together in Stockholm. Designed to immerse participants in practical AI applications and strategic planning, the sprint aims to help these companies expand into new EU markets, thereby strengthening the regional AI ecosystem.
The participants met for the first time in Gävle at the end of June for the first sprint, Scaling Launchpad, hosted by Movexum.
AI is transforming businesses, and the GSAI program is designed to help leaders in the Central Baltic region seize this opportunity now. It is a nine-month scale-up initiative co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Central Baltic Programme. The gathering for the start of the second sprint, AI Studio, is hosted by AI Sweden and builds on the foundation laid during the first sprint, Scaling Launchpad, hosted by Movexum in Gävle.

AI adoption doesn’t come with a one-size-fits-all playbook. It takes bold leadership, a willingness to experiment, and the right insights to chart a path that fits each organisation’s unique context.

The Stockholm event will focus on hands-on sessions, allowing participants to, as Astrid Sjögren, Sector Initiative manager at AI Sweden, said, “roll up their sleeves” and start identifying and implementing AI opportunities. Alexander Brunner adds, “Startups don't have the luxury of time. They need to work smart and fast — and that means seeing AI not as a future trend, but as a critical tool that allows them to scale faster.”

One of the tools we’ll introduce in the sprint is the AI Opportunity Mapping Workshop — it helps organisations turn ambition into action by building a clear roadmap, prioritising use cases, and aligning teams around what successful AI adoption really requires.

During the AI Studio session in Stockholm, participants will gain practical knowledge and inspiration on how to effectively leverage AI in their businesses. The sprint features a series of expert-led sessions, including a talk by Theo Bergqvist, a serial entrepreneur and CEO of Turbotic, who will share insights on Scaling with AI.
We’ll also hear from Niclas Johansson, Data Scientist and machine learning engineer at Tenfifty, who will share key learnings from hands-on experience with AI and machine learning — including how to successfully implement an AI project. In addition, Peter Kurzwelly, AI Strategist at AI Sweden, will present the Growth Playbook with AI, offering strategic guidance on driving expansion through AI.
Another highlight is Dr. Bobby Bridges, Mathematician and Innovation leader at AI Sweden, who will explore the critical topic of AI safety and why it must be considered from the outset.
By uniting some of the Central Baltic region’s strongest innovation ecosystems and business development experts, we’re collectively investing in the next generation of globally minded scaleups — harnessing the power of AI to strengthen their business models and sharpen their value propositions.
Supporting startups creates value not just for the startups themselves, but for a broader range of organizations. As Alexander Brunner puts it: “With their agile ways of working and need for cost-efficiency, startups often have a unique ability to rapidly test and scale AI solutions. Their experiences offer valuable insights for other companies facing similar challenges.”
The ultimate goal of the program is to equip participants to accelerate the growth of their startups and scale into new EU markets by developing AI-powered business models and products.
The GSAI program offers a comprehensive suite of practical support modules, including fostering a growth mindset, optimizing business processes, and preparing for international market entry and investment rounds.
It is a joint effort by Movexum (Sweden), AI Sweden, Yrityssalo (Finland), and Tehnopol (Estonia) set to support 45 companies over three years, with participating startups attending workshops in Gävle, Stockholm, Salo, and Tallinn.
GSAI, Growth and Scaling Through AI, is financed by Interreg Central Baltic Programme.
Although the application period for the second round in 2026 has not started yet, startups are more than welcome to express interest in participating. Please do so by filling out the interest form:
