We are excited to invite you to the first Partner Breakfast Seminar after summer, where we will delve into a critical and timely topic: "Enhancing Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure." This seminar will provide a platform for partners within AI Sweden to come together, discuss, and identify new areas of collaboration in the realm of cybersecurity.
This seminar will focus on the role of cybersecurity education and training across governmental agencies, academia, and the private sector in safeguarding critical infrastructure. We will draw upon the U.S. experience as a case study, exploring strategies and best practices.
Background
In the U.S. there are 16 sectors designated by the federal government as critical infrastructure. The U.S. Congress created a new agency in 2018, The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA), with a mission to build the national capacity to defend against physical and cyberattacks against these 16 sectors. This is a monumental task. It is frequently acknowledged that the weakest link in cybersecurity is people. Statistics show that 95% of cybersecurity breaches are human error. The best way to mitigate that vulnerability is through education and training. Using the U.S. as a case study, this talk will generate a discussion on the role of cybersecurity education and training across governmental agencies, through academia, and in the private sector to protect critical infrastructure.

Mary S. Bell, Ph.D., Dean, The Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences Dakota State University
Dr. Mary Bell is Dean of The Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences at Dakota State University. She was previously a Professor at the National Defense University (NDU) where she started teaching in 2010. At NDU she served as a department head of the Joint Advanced Warfighting School Operational Art and Campaign Planning Field of Study. While there, she also created an elective on cyberspace, intelligence, information, and space considerations. She has 34 years of leadership experience in both the Department of Defense and academia including 13 years of teaching experience with 11 years at the graduate level and two at the undergraduate level. She has over 20 years of service in the U.S. Army with experience in Aviation and Intelligence.
