AstraZeneca and AI Sweden are challenging the AI community to solve the problem of labeling cell images without requiring toxic preprocessing of cell cultures. Eight teams have been selected by AI Sweden and AstraZeneca to work on the solutions to this challenge and the teams will present their result for the jury on November 19.
In the drug development process, the uptake of drugs in cells is typically studied using a combination of brightfield- and fluorescence cellular imaging. Fluorescence imaging is needed to identify certain structures in the cells and requires the use of toxic staining techniques.
During two weeks (Nov 2 - Nov 19) eight teams will solve the challenge of predicting the content of fluorescence cell images from the corresponding bright field images in a competition arranged by AI Sweden and AstraZeneca.
