Introducing the new cohort for Eye for AI

Thursday, April 18, 2024

The talent program, Eye for AI - Graduate Program for Future Leaders in AI, is back with a new cohort! This time around, we welcome four talents, both national and international, who will be collaborating with Region Skåne and Linnaeus University. "In the transformation from a linear/analog organization to a data- and AI-driven organization, it is of utmost importance to receive input from the cutting edge,” says Professor Stefan Jovinge MD PhD, Research and Education Director at Skåne University Hospital.

In 2021, Eye for AI was launched and four international talents were recruited to work on AI projects together with AstraZeneca, Sahlgrenska University Hospital and Zenseact. After a successful first round of the program, all of the talents are now working in the Swedish AI ecosystem.

“By helping our partners recruit AI expertise, we're also strengthening the pool of talent and the Swedish AI ecosystem in general. It is very exciting to see that since we launched our talent programs, over 250 individuals have worked with partners and made a real impact in the Swedish AI community”, says Sofia Hedén, Head of Talent Programs at AI Sweden.

Fast forward to today, we are happy to welcome a new cohort for the Eye for AI talent program. The program will consist of 9-month placements at two different organizations. This time, the participants will work on projects at Region Skåne and Linnaeus University.

"In the transformation from a linear/analog organization to a data- and AI-driven organization, it is of utmost importance to receive input from the cutting edge. Our colleagues from AI Sweden have an impressive level of expertise and open minds, which are among the driving forces necessary to change and enable an AI transformation of a traditionally organized sector like healthcare. In our sector, AI does not pose a threat to jobs but rather provides an opportunity for us, with the limited personnel we have, to solve the equation of healthcare," says Professor Stefan Jovinge MD PhD, Research and Education Director at Skåne University Hospital.

"I applied for Eye For AI because I saw the opportunity to develop my skills in AI applied to healthcare and to be a part of AI Sweden's competence network. The chance to use my skills and experience in socially beneficial areas was what truly motivated me to apply, along with the opportunity to surround myself with and learn from individuals who possess greater expertise than I do," says Andreas Häggström, participant in Eye for AI.

“As a data scientist, I applied to join the Eye for AI because I believe in the power of interdisciplinary collaboration to solve complex challenges. This program offers a unique platform to not only enhance my technical skills but also to engage with diverse perspectives and real-world applications of AI. I’m excited to delve into projects that push the boundaries of what’s possible in data-driven innovation and to be part of a community dedicated to driving meaningful impact through AI,” says Azalea Alothmani, participant in Eye for AI.

With this new cohort, Eye for AI continues to pave the way for the next generation of AI leaders, fostering innovation and driving progress in the field.
